Develop Stronger Athletes the Right Way
If you’re a parent weighing performance training for your young athlete, you probably have two questions: Is it safe? And is it worth it? At St. Pete Sports Performance in St. Petersburg, FL, the answer to both is yes — when it’s done the right way, which is exactly how we do it.
Is Training Safe for Young Athletes?
Yes — when it’s coached correctly. Decades of research show that age-appropriate, supervised strength and movement training is safe for young athletes and one of the best ways to build confidence and reduce injury risk. The key is qualified coaching and proper progression, which is what we provide.
Overseen by a Youth Sports Specialist
Our youth program is overseen by Melissa Schorpion, PT, SCS, OCS — a dual board-certified sports and orthopedic clinical specialist with 17 years of experience in youth sports physical therapy and the strength and conditioning of young athletes. Few facilities can put that depth of expertise behind your child’s development.
What Your Athlete Will Gain
- Better movement. Clean, confident mechanics that transfer to every sport.
- Reduced injury risk. Stronger, more resilient bodies that hold up to their season.
- Real confidence. Young athletes who trust their bodies play freer and have more fun.
- Long-term development. A foundation that pays off for years, not just one season.
What to Expect
Every young athlete starts with an assessment so we can meet them where they are and progress them safely. You’ll get a clear picture of their starting point and a plan built for their stage of development — never a one-size-fits-all workout.

Start With a Performance Assessment
See where you stand and what it will take to reach your goals.
You don’t have to figure this out alone. We will build a plan around your goals so you can get back to doing what you love with confidence.
